The Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) is switching to the Sig Sauer P320 line like the US military. The Canadian military designation for the gun will be the C22. This is likely going to be a near clone of the M17 or M18 with different engraving on the slide. The M17 and M18 have a different optics mount that's unique with a single screw. The only optic compatible with those guns are the ROMEO-M17. It's yet to be seen if the Canadian military will be using that slide or a standard P320 slide that's compatible with the Romeo1PRO which utilized the Deltapoint Pro footprint. The latter would certainly provide them with more options, but using the same optic as the US military would have advantages if the US and Canadian forces were deployed together.
Interestingly, the CAF has been using the Browning Hi-Power since 1944. We certainly can't fault them for that because it's a fantastic gun that's remained relavent after Browning discontinued production (note: there are quality Hi-Power clones still being produced).

A couple weeks ago we made a post about the SIG Military Model M17 and M18 being available to those that qualify for the SIG Armed Professional Program. SIG did sell a limited number of these to the general public and called the M17 Commemorative Edition. We inquired about purchasing something like a C22 Commemmorative Edition guns with our SIG rep. For those collectors with the Military Model M17 and M18 these would be a really cool addition to complete the full set. If there's any way we can get some Canadian Military Model C22s, however unlikely it may be, we will provide an update here and also give more dtails with an updated blog post.
