Suppressor / NFA Purchase Process

We sell a wide variety of suppressors and short barreled rifles. The process seems overwhelming but it isn't terrible. Thanks to recent NFA changes, we're seeing pretty quick approval times for Form 4's. Additionally, the $200 tax was eliminated as of January 1, 2025.

What's Required for a NFA Purchase?

In order to purchase an NFA item in store (or transfer one), you will need:

  • Valid identification (preferably a state issued driver's license or ID) that shows your current legal residence.
  • An ATF E-Forms account. This is used to associate the purchase with you / your legal identity. You will need to know your E-Forms username and pin in order to complete a purchase (required during the Form 4 processing). You can register an E-Forms account at https://eforms.atf.gov

Does OCG Have a Kiosk?

Yes! We have a Cerberus kiosk for processing Form 4's and managing fingerprints and processing Form 4 submissions. You will only need to complete the kiosk onboarding process one time and it takes about 10 to 15 minutes to scan your fingerprints and complete the onboarding.

Do I Need a Trust?

A trust is not needed to purchase a NFA item unless you want to structure the trust so that multiple individuals can possess the NFA item. A trust is not required for estate planning purposes as they can be conveyed via a will. If you choose to initially purchase without a trust, you can later Form 4 the NFA item into a trust. If you choose to purchase with a trust, a notarized copy (we can scan it for you) must be provided and we will have to upload it with during the Form 4 submission. If you have multiple co-trustees, we will need to provide a photo and fingerprints for each co-trustee during the Form 4 process.

How Long Do Approvals Take?

Generally we're seeing approvals take as little as one or two days but they can take a week or two. It is also possible for some approvals to take longer but most are processed in under two weeks. From our observation, individuals who see instant proceeds on firearm background checks tend to see quick Form 4 approvals.
