The package comes with the fully assembled laser unit, a Duracell branded battery, an 0.050" Allen key, a couple of cotton swabs, and an instruction sheet. Packaging is disposable.
The Allen key is used for the installation procedure, future access to the battery compartment, and any adjustments to be made to POI. No other tools are required. The cotton swabs are meant to remove dust or debris from the lens of the laser.
Once mounted on the grip module, the laser feels virtually like a part of the firearm's grip design. Mounting takes not more than two minutes.
You lose about 1/16" of trigger undercut, but for me this has the happy effect of forcing my middle finger into the activation switch, and as a result, I never failed to activate or maintain activation of the laser, unless I deliberately relaxed the middle finger.
Prior reviews from other sources at the initial time of introduction of the product, in the second quarter of 2018, had indicated that the activation switch can be finicky for some shooters- I can only say that for me, this unit acquired at the beginning of 2019 functions perfectly, which was something of a relief after seeing a few negative reviews.
Installation is fast, easy, and it seems quite secure.
The laser itself is very sensitive to adjustments. A few degrees of adjustment moves the beam considerably. As is normal for this kind of aiming device, there is a separate windage and elevation setting, and they seem to operate with complete independence (which isn't always true in this sort of application).
All of these observations are also characteristic of other lasers I've used, particularly those from Crimson Trace.
SIG's manual advises zeroing the LIMA365 with the dot on top of the irons at 10 yards, and then re-zeroing after initial shooting, if needed. Initial shots fired serve to "settle" the fit between the grip module and the laser itself, and account for any POI change due to ammunition, etc.
Unlike the two other solutions currently announced or on the market (as of January 2019) from Viridian and Crimson Trace, the Lima365 utilizes the entire length of SIG's proprietary rail on the P365. This may enhance accuracy and the longevity of the accessory fit.
Collimation of the beam is quite good, and the emitter output seems to range slightly to the higher end of the spectrum, verging on blue green. Hence, it is easy to see against most normal surfaces in a 25-yard radius in daylight (and in some circumstances, such as in twilight, far beyond). Green lasers are typically 35 times more visible to the human eye than red lasers, so they are faster and easier to pick up than red.
The P365 equipped with the Lima365 looks like one monolithic system and is obviously custom designed for the P365. It also, unsurprisingly, perfectly fits the BlackPoint IWB holster specifically made for this combination, and sold by SIG.
In the end, the laser is a supplement, but not a substitute, for the iron sight. In good lighting conditions, where the iron sights can be crisp and clear, it's not needed. It's when the light begins to fade that the laser really reaches the peak of utility.
When combined with the extreme compactness of the P365, the LIMA365 laser adds an effective secondary sighting system with no significant negatives in terms of ergonomics, weight or performance. (Posted on 1/7/2019)
