As we celebrate our upcoming Independence Day it's good to learn what happened in our history and why. If you love history and learning about our past then you will likely think about the "What Ifs" of modern weapons in the past (especially if you are interested in firearms). World War II really modernized warfare in both technology and scale. Our rifles today are smaller, lighter, and more accurate than muskets used during the American Revolution. What about our ships?
The ships of the mid 1700's were wooden hulled with cannons that shot rounds an adult could easily pick up. An Iowa Class battleship has main guns that fire a 16" round that weighs up to 2700 pounds, travels north of 2500 ft/sec, and can accurately hit a target over 23 miles away. So what would happen if an Iowa Class battleship would somehow go back in time over 200 years from the 1980's during their last activation and fight for the colonies?
This is really interesting and makes you think about how far technology and civilization has advanced. While celebrate our independence we should also be thankful for everything we have in the modern world. We at Osage County Guns are also thankful to our loyal customers. Be safe and enjoy Independence Day!
