V1 Controls
On the V1, the control lever is a combination safety and decocking lever mounted on the left side of the frame. HK designed it so the lever has a positive stop and returns to fire after decocking. That same lever lets you carry the pistol cocked and locked in single action with the safety on. Trigger pull on the USP9 is published at 20 N single action and 51 N double action.
Recoil Reduction and the Barrel
The USP uses a modified Browning-type action and HK's patented recoil reduction system. The system does not need adjustment for ammunition type. The barrel is cold-hammer-forged with a polygonal bore.
