The M&P15 AXE is Smith & Wesson’s compact AR pistol built from the start to run a can. The 8-inch .300 Blackout barrel is threaded 5/8x24, and the Gemtech GVAC gas system cuts the gas blowback that usually comes with shooting a suppressed AR. GVAC: Less Gas in Your Face
GVAC improves on a standard direct-impingement system with an added chamber in the gas block. Gas still drives the bolt carrier, while excess gas is held in that chamber and vented away instead of being dumped back through the action toward the shooter. If you plan to run this pistol suppressed most of the time, this is the reason to pick it.
