Vortex Defender-CCW Micro Red Dot – 3 MOA, Shield RMSc Footprint (DFCCW-MRD3)
A carry optic has to survive being carried, and that means surviving lint, sweat, holster friction, and getting knocked against doorframes. The Defender-CCW is built for it: a single-piece chassis, a ShockShield polymer insert, and a Fast-Rack textured face so you can rack the slide off the optic one-handed. It runs the Shield RMSc footprint — the most common micro-compact cut in the industry — with a 6.9mm deck height and 0.95 ounces of weight. Vortex SKU DFCCW-MRD3, UPC 843829133272.
Top-Load Battery — No Re-Zero
This is the feature that matters most on a carry optic and the one people check first. The CR1632 loads from the top, so you change the battery without unmounting the sight and without losing your zero. Runtime is 9,500 hours.
Motion Activation and Button Lockout
- Motion activation with a 10-minute auto shutoff — it wakes when the gun moves and sleeps when it doesn't.
- 10 brightness settings — 8 daylight-bright plus 2 night-vision compatible.
- Button lockout prevents accidental brightness changes in a holster, which is exactly where accidental button presses happen.
Built to Be Carried
- Single-piece chassis with a low-glare matte black anodized finish.
- ShockShield polymer insert.
- Fast-Rack textured grip on the face for one-handed slide manipulation.
- Aspherical lens, parallax free, unlimited eye relief.
- Waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will it fit my pistol?
It uses the Shield RMSc footprint, which is the most common micro-compact optic cut. Contact us with your pistol and slide cut and we'll confirm before you order.
Do I have to re-zero when I change the battery?
No. The CR1632 loads from the top, so the optic stays mounted.
3 MOA or 6 MOA?
3 MOA is the more precise dot; 6 MOA is faster to find up close. Both are available — the 6 MOA is SKU DFCCW-MRD6.
Does it turn itself on?
Yes — motion activation with a 10-minute auto shutoff.
