Vortex Defender-CCW Micro Red Dot – 6 MOA, Shield RMSc Footprint (DFCCW-MRD6)

A carry optic has to survive being carried — lint, sweat, holster friction, and getting knocked against doorframes. The Defender-CCW is built for that: a single-piece chassis, a ShockShield polymer insert, and a Fast-Rack textured face for one-handed slide racking. This is the 6 MOA version — the fast one. It runs the Shield RMSc footprint at a 6.9mm deck height and 0.95 ounces. Vortex SKU DFCCW-MRD6, UPC 843829133289.

Why 6 MOA

A bigger dot is easier to find. Under stress, at speed, and at the distances a concealed-carry pistol actually gets used, the time it takes your eye to pick up the dot matters more than the precision you give up. A 6 MOA dot covers about six inches at 100 yards — irrelevant on a defensive pistol, and a meaningful advantage on the draw. If you want the more precise option for deliberate shooting, the same optic is available with a 3 MOA dot.

Top-Load Battery — No Re-Zero

The feature people check first on a carry optic. The CR1632 loads from the top, so you change the battery without unmounting the sight and without losing your zero. Runtime is 9,500 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

6 MOA or 3 MOA?
6 MOA is faster to pick up and better suited to defensive use at typical pistol distances. 3 MOA is more precise for deliberate shooting at distance. Most carry shooters are better served by the larger dot. The 3 MOA is SKU DFCCW-MRD3.

Will it fit my pistol?
It uses the Shield RMSc footprint, the most common micro-compact optic cut. Contact us with your pistol and slide cut and we'll confirm before you order.

Do I have to re-zero when I change the battery?
No — the CR1632 loads from the top and the optic stays mounted.

Does it turn itself on?
Yes — motion activation with a 10-minute auto shutoff.
